T&C Robinson, Lincolnshire’s Premier Saddle Fitting Specialists!

T&C Robinson Goes Back To It’s Roots.

T&C Robinson of Billinghay was established in 1905 by Tom Robinson. Tom created a saddlery business on the current site and went in to partnership with his son Charles on his return from fighting in the War, hence the name T&C Robinson.

Fast forward 109 years and the business has gone full circle. After seeing several changes over the last century the saddlery side of the company is now in the capable hands of John Robinson (Tom’s Grandson) and more recently John’s son Peter. Peter is undergoing his apprenticeship to follow in his Father’s footsteps and as such T&C Robinson will be moving forward by focussing on the saddle fitting aspect of the business. This will be undertaken out of one of the units at the current site and will see the closure of the existing shop. (March 7th 2015)

“Current situations have forced us to look at our business and reposition ourselves in the market accordingly. Whilst we won’t be able to offer country clothing or leather goods we will be able to offer a high class saddle fitting service and high quality saddlery to sit alongside our range of saddles,” says Peter. “This is a very exciting time for us as we get back in touch with our roots and are able to do what we do best. Dad is one of the best Master Saddlers in the country so I couldn’t be learning the ropes from anyone better.”

The company’s second site also sees the integration of the fourth generation of the family. Anne Brown (John’s sister) runs the Stamford branch that sells country clothing, leather goods and gifts and is a long standing retailer of the town. Anne’s daughter Becca is already heavily involved in the day to day running of the shop which has recently re-branded to Robinson’s of Stamford. Both Mother and Daughter are helping to ensure the current repositioning at Billinghay is a success.

Alongside a full range of saddles, there will also be a selection of quality, English made saddlery, including bridles, stirrup leathers, reins and dog accessories. The existing repair service will still be available as well as a bespoke leather service for anything from vintage car accessories to individual specific requirements. With Peter on board the area covered by the saddle fitting service should be considerably bigger, so start spreading the word!

John concludes by saying, “We would like to thank all the customers who have visited our shop over the years and hope to see those that ride, out and about on saddle fits in the future as T&C Robinson begins the next chapter.”
